Synopsis
Thorton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Our Town is opened and narrated by the Stage Manager, who welcomes viewers into the fictional town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire in May of 1901. Our Town is centered around two families: the Gibbs and the Webbs, and is composed of 3 acts. The first act, “Daily Life,” is when the two families meet, and the viewers see the relationship between George Gibbs and Emily Webbs begin to grow. Act 2, “Love and Marriage,” takes place 3 years later, as George Gibbs and Emily Webbs prepare to marry. The days go on, and they continue to make important decisions that will affect the rest of their lives. The final act, entitled “Death and Eternity,” takes place 9 years after the start of Act 1. The characters think about their happy lives, as well as the people around them, and those that they miss.
Our production of Our Town uses multiple stages of existence and relationships to help bring the show to life, as well as draw the audience to the edges of their seats, or in this case, close to the screen.
Join us via Zoom to watch the story of Grover’s Corners and its people unfold into the adventures of their lives!
